Bamboo Baby

Bamboo baBy’s Spring/Summer 2012 ‘Sweetie’ collection is now available to order. You’ll find fun new organic cotton prints, super-soft bamboo/organic cotton interlock, gorgeous bamboo denim styles and luxurious bamboo knitwear. All designs inspired by sweets!

Why Bamboo?

Bamboo is the most sustainable all-natural plant fibre on earth with amazing silky softness! Bamboo fabric is organic, sustainable and super eco-friendly whilst being gorgeously soft. Feeling is believing!

At Bamboo baBy they use organic bamboo & organic cotton in their baby clothes. Bamboo has an amazing softness and hypo-allergic properties that make it ideal for babies delicate skin. It is also very absorbent and great for keeping babies warm when it is cold and cool when it is warm. Bamboo is a grass and it grows quickly without the need for pesticides and water-making it a more eco friendly alternative to conventional cotton. It is also great for reducing environmental damage including soil erosion and global warming.

Bamboo clothing that may help sufferers of eczema:

As rough clothing, chemicals, infection, being too warm and damp can all be triggers of atopic eczema, organic cotton and bamboo clothing are both thought to help. Bamboo is very soft with sweat-wicking, thermo-regulating and anti-bacterial properties, helping to reduce a number of the triggers of eczema. Organic cotton is also cool to wear and allows the skin to ‘breathe’. Both bamboo and organic cotton clothes are free of chemical residues. The National Eczema Society provides a fact sheet with details of stockists of organic cotton, silk and bamboo clothing that may help sufferers of eczema.

Design Features

They want your Bamboo baBy and Bamboo Kids clothes to last as long as possible so they try to design them to fit well, be comfortable and to add design features to make them last for longer.

  • All their jeans, trousers and skirts have adjustable waistbands.
  • Their dungarees and pinafore dresses have 3 sets of poppers on the straps so they can be adjusted as your little one grows taller.
  • Their hooded tops are fully reversible so if one side gets grubby you can just turn them inside out!
  • Some of their shirts, jeans and trousers have poppers inside the legs or buttons on the sleeves so they can be made into three-quarter length.

And because bamboo fabric is soooo soft, hopefully you’ll never hear your little one complaining that anything is itchy!

Authentic Adventures – Walking Holidays

Whether you are an experienced hiker or someone who likes to amble rather than ramble, there is an Authentic Adventure for you.

‘Walking over lemons’ in Andalucia is where it all started for them and they are pleased to be returning to the Subbetica natural park again this year. The region is famous for its neolithic caves. Their walkers walk through steep olive groves, past vultures circling the cliffs, taking in the views of little whitewashed villages clinging to the craggy outcrops of the mountains.

Gozo, the little island off Malta with its citadel of the Knights of Malta, is a new walking destination for them, and provides a chance to spot dozens of species of migrating birds stopping off on their route. Also new for them is the picturesque Greek island of Santorini, with its myth of Atlantis. The views of whitewashed churches and sparkling blue sea will refresh the senses.

Walking in Lanzarote has been one of their surprises, the tapestry of salt pans and volcanic lava fields creating a unique landscape that is unlike anywhere else.

Italy remains one of their best loved destinations for walking in beautiful scenery with Stefano and his team of fascinating guides to explain all about the wildlife and history of his country. You will be led through the vineyards and farmsteads around the Val d’Orcia – Tuscany’s classic wine producing landscape.

For those who prefer demanding walks they have a new walking holiday in the Italian Alps at Gran Paradiso with its amazing backdrop of lakes and mountains.

The languid pace of life in Kerala in India is a delight for meandering along the canal paths and steeping through the lightly scented tea gardens is one of their more exotic adventures. A true delight, the spices and colours of Kerala will linger in the memory.

Surrounded by the undeniable rhythms of Hispanic music, cobbled streets that wind amongst the colonial buildings, palm fringed sandy beaches and lush sugar cane producing valleys, Cuba never fails to impress and amaze. On foot you can meet the real people of this outstanding island, of the tourist route and experience the real authentic Cuba.

Group size
Their groups are typically between eight and 14 and therefore have little impact on the locals and their environment.

Single travellers
Their groups are renowned for their friendliness and as a result most weeks have several single walkers. They try to keep the single supplement to a minimum.

Lead Adventures

Lead Adventures has been around since 2004 and knows Ecuador & Galapagos intimately!

Up to date Lead Adventures has given over 3000 people just like you an adventure in South America that they will never forget.

Whether you are young or mature, shy or extroverted, laid-back or adventurous, South America has something for everyone. Their programs fit individuals, couples, families and groups.

Lead Adventures authentic experiences stimulate the imagination and change lives forever. Some of their most popular programs include:

Galapagos Experience: 3 weeks, 3 islands, combine travel & adventure & volunteer!

Ecuador Experience: Andes, Amazon, Coast, all in one experience!

Animal Welfare: Help save animals at our Andes, Coast, Amazon rescue centers!

Lead Adventures can also build you a custom made experience that gives you a unique opportunity to live and work in a local South American community making a real difference to people’s lives and the environment. Share with like-minded volunteers, quickly make new friends and experience Ecuador as it really is.

Why Choose Lead Adventures?

Exceptional Local Support:

They know how important it is to build mutually beneficial relationships with local resources.

As a South American (Ecuador) based company the quality of their local contacts is second to none. This allows Lead Adventures to offer superb and efficient services to their participants.

Their bilingual, experienced local staff are always there to help you get the most out of your experience as a participant in their programs.

Security and Experience:

Their superb local knowledge and contacts mean they have the safest and fastest security and emergency procedures in the unlikely event that an emergency arises.

The fact Lead Adventures are the best in the area is proven when other tour provider companies use their local experience and services to solve their own issues.

Value:

This is another area where being local means an advantage.

Lead Adventures administrative costs are much lower than agencies based in Europe or the USA. This enables them to offer lower prices for their programs compared to other international travel agencies.

Additionally, as they are the operators of these programs rather than the agents, they can guarantee cost efficiency and offer you a great value.

True Local Impact:

You will be really making a difference to the area you visit: Most of Lead Adventures’ revenue goes directly into the projects they support, that means local economic impact rather than marginal compared with how major tour operators work.

They support local environmental impact throughout our volunteer projects in Galapagos and the Amazon region. As a South American company, based in Quito, Ecuador, Lead Adventures have the local knowledge and capacity to choose the best managed projects.

No wonder they love Lead Adventures!

Guernsey Travel

Guernsey is a small island with a big heart. Nestled in the middle of the Channel Islands and within sight of the French coast, Guernsey retains much of its traditional charm alongside the identity of a modern and vibrant British island.

Loyal to the British Crown, Guernsey and the rest of the Channel Islands became British isles during the Norman conquest, creating a unique Anglo-French history that survives to this day. Today Guernsey is a self-governing ‘Baliwick’, incorporating the smaller Channel Islands of Sark, Alderney and Herm. There are many quirky and charming features on the island, including unique Guernsey stamps and the island’s own currency – legal tender only in the Channel Islands (don’t worry though – British Sterling can also be used!)

Holidays in Guernsey can be spent shopping and exploring in the town centre of St. Peter Port, exploring the lush countryside and coastal cliff walks in the south and west of the island, or lapping up the sunshine on one of the island’s beautiful beaches. Visitors are treated to a wealth of natural features and experiences to invigorate the senses and relax.

Guernsey is a naturally abundant source of fantastic food. Both locals and visitors are treated to many Guernsey specialities, including fresh Channel Island seafood, a wealth of locally-grown fruits & vegetables and Guernsey-brewed ales. The island features a great selection of restaurants, bars and cafes for al tastes, from hearty pub fayre and contemporary dining to beach cafes and award-winning hotel bistros.

A Guernsey break is an ideal antidote to stress; a different world only an hour from the UK mainland.
